Study on Non-Financial Reporting in Accordance with European Directives in the Case of Romanian Companies

Abstract:
The purpose of the study is to reflect the importance of non-financial reporting in companies through the literature and European regulations. This paper brings forward the requirements of the European Directive regarding the obligation of European Union companies that are publicly exposed and have over 500 employees to report non-financial information and analyzes, in particular, the current level of non-financial reporting within Romanian companies in comparison with the European Directive. Analyzing how companies from Romania currently report these non-financial information set out in the European Directive, the paper concludes a very low degree of similarity, companies from Romania are not correlated with European and international requirements regarding environmental, social and employees non-financial reporting.\r\n
